Dr. Londoño-McConnell was presented with the President’s Award at the Georgia Psychological Association’s (GPA) Annual Conference for her role in bringing the first Mind/Body Health Fair to the State of Georgia Capitol. The President’s Award is a distinguished honor given by GPA to a psychologist for their professional achievements.

They spoke about their involvement with consultation activities and responded to questions from students about the nature and business of consultation work.

Drs. Kip Matthews and Angela Londoño-McConnell participated on the Psychology for a Healthier Georgia Mind/Body Health Fair at the Georgia Capitol sponsored by the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA). As members of the GPA Public Education Committee, they helped design, implement and deliver a health fair to inform legislators about psychologically-related issues that affect Georgia citizens. Dr. Londoño-McConnell was one of the co-chairs who helped to plan and deliver the Fair.

The American Psychological Association Public Education Campaigns (PEC) office invited Dr. Londoño-McConnell to serve on the PEC Guidance Council and become the PEC Regional Coordinator for the Southeast Region. The Guidance Council consists of a representative from five different regions of the country and Canada. The Southeast Region encompasses Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Washington D.C., North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Virgin Islands.

Dr. Londoño-McConnell participated in a Familias Fuertes Training sponsored by The University of Georgia and the Pan American Health Organization. The program is an adaptation of the Iowa Strengthening Families Program (ISFP) geared to decrease the incidents of drug use & other risk-taking behaviors, including HIV/AIDS prevention, and sex and reproductive education among adolescents.
