Dr. Kip Matthews was interviewed by Kevin Bailey on Classic City Sports Talk about tips and strategies on starting a new exercise program. Suggestions were made on maintaining an exercise program to improve physical and mental health by Dr. Matthews. On October 30, 2006, Dr. Matthews served as the host of Classic City Sports Talk while he interviewed two outstanding Little League coaches, David Barbe and Pete Sackett. The program appears on Charter Communications Channel 23 in Athens, GA on Monday and Friday evenings from 8:00 - 8:30 pm.

AK Counseling & Consulting provided a workshop entitled “And the Band Still Plays On: The Ethics of Behavioral Health Treatment of HIV/AIDS”, presented by Dr. Londoño-McConnell to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the discovery of the virus that causes AIDS. The workshop was very well-received and widely-attended.

CNN en Español invited Dr. Londoño-McConnell to Nuestro Mundo, hosted by Glenda Umaña, to discuss how depression in adolescent girls can lead to abusive relationships in adulthood.

Dr. Londoņo-McConnell presented at the School Counselors as Educational Leaders for Georgia Latino/a K-12 Students conference held at the University of Georgia. The program was entitled, "Latinos and Gangs: Avoiding Hysteria." The program addressed a number of risk factors associated with gang involvement and highlighted a multi-level approach for addressing this social problem. Particular emphasis was placed on the role that school counselors and educational institutions play in helping Latina/o students confront the lure of gangs.

Dr. Londoņo-McConnell was interviewed by CNN en Espaņol about bipolar depression. The focus of the discussion centered around the recognition of signs and symptoms of this disorder and current treatments employed to address this condition.

Dr. Londoņo-McConnell discussed the psychological effects of Hurricane Katrina on children during an interview on CNN en Espaņol. The interview, conducted by Viviana Fernández, highlighted the traumatic stress experienced by child victims of this natural disaster and suggested ways of coping with the aftermath.
Summer 2005
Dr. Kip Matthews published an article in the Summer 2005 issue of the Georgia Psychologist, a publication of the Georgia Psychological Association. The article highlights the increased emphasis on the use of "empirically-supported therapies" in the past few years.
