AK Counseling & Consulting, Inc. was co-founded by Angela Londoño-McConnell, Ph.D. and J. Kip Matthews, Ph.D. in their interest to provide quality counseling and psychological services to the Athens community and surrounding areas. Based on a holistic philosophy of care and service, the professionals at AK Counseling & Consulting are dedicated to providing comprehensive services to individuals, groups, and organizations.

Dr. Angela Londoño-McConnell
Angela Londoño-McConnell, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and is President of AK Counseling & Consulting, Inc. She has extensive experience in the area of cultural diversity. She has worked as a Multicultural Specialist at the Counseling Center at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She also directed the Latin@ Student Cultural Center, and served on several community-wide committees to address enrollment and retention of students of color at the University level. Dr. Londoño-McConnell co-chaired the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs of the Massachusetts Psychological Association. Dr. Londoño-McConnell presents numerous workshops on a variety of topics such as women's mental health, ethnic/cultural issues, HIV/AIDS-related concerns, and workplace satisfaction.

Her professional interests include diversity, women's issues, career counseling, relationship concerns, psychosocial aspects of HIV/AIDS, and anxiety and mood disorders. Dr. Londoño-McConnell is bilingual (Spanish/English).

Dr. J. Kip Matthews
J. Kip Matthews, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in the State of Georgia and is Vice-President of AK Counseling & Consulting, Inc. He is active in a number of professional organizations at the national, regional, and local levels. He served as the Director of the Student Success Center at the Georgia State University Counseling Center and was the Coordinator of Career Services at both the Georgia State University Counseling Center and the University of Georgia Counseling and Testing Center. Dr. Matthews has offered programs on numerous topics including stress management, men's issues, relationship enhancement, and sport performance enhancement. His research has been presented at the American Psychological Association, the American College Personnel Association, and in a variety of other forums.

Dr. Matthews' professional interests include corporate/business consulting, career and life planning, sport and performance psychology, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual concerns, mental health professional training and supervision, men's issues, and psychological testing. He is currently credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
